I had no Valentine Decorations! I decided that I desperately needed to solve this problem so I spent a weekend dedicated to making Valentine crafts! It was super fun and I was very pleased with the results, maybe not so much the getting to them, but yes the results!
This Valentine Topiary has a story. I was very excited to make and it seemed so easy (you can find the tutorial here.) but I had my troubles... these troubles had to do with the glue. First of all the tutorial says to use E6000 (which I did end up using for this project) but I applied it directly to the Styrofoam ball, and I applied a ton of it. This glue is strong, and strong smelling, it is actually known to cause cancer in California (seriously, that is what the package said...the package also said "Do not use on Styrofoam.") anyways, this ultra-intense glue started to eat away at my Styrofoam ball! It was insane! So I decided, maybe I should just use regular tacky glue, you know the stuff that really sucks and shouldn't even really be called "glue." Well just by my tone you can tell that this was a lousy idea. with every heart that I glued the first would fall right off and I ended up throwing the ball across the living room, using some choice words, and almost getting grounded from crafting! Who ever said crafting was therapeutic? After begging Eric to allow me to continue my craft I decide to get a fresh ball, and start again with the E6000. This time I applied the glue to the heart and only just a tiny dot and I was good to go. I could see an end to this project! the rest was very easy, the moss was messy but nothing I didn't mind busting out my new Dustbuster for!

By the way, This is Kevin our friends bird. He loves to play in the fake trees.

Whitters! I love the Valentine's Day Decor...cute cute cute! I mostly liked however how you watched Saved By The Bell while you were making them...I knew there was more of a reason to love you than just your red hair...ps Why is Vienna still on the Bach?? NO seriously WHY????
...oh yeah and isn't the bread maker thing amazing...it makes me feel like a good wife and cook without trying :)
mmm. I need to bust out my bread maker more often.
Kevin! He hasn't even made an appearance on my blog yet. I loved making the wreaths too. Defiantly a good idea. PS: we want me bread. mmmk
Cute crafts! Your wreath looks perfect! I'm thinking you could have used hot glue for the topiary. That's what I used on my twine decor balls. I'm glad you got the other glue to work. It is strong stuff huh! I still need to break out my bread machine. Thanks again for the recipe!
We used E6000 for the rhinestones and flowers on Giselle's dress at the studio in LA. I knew there was something harmful in those fumes... I guess there is nothing I can do now. Btw, I can't imagine you throwing the ball across the room and using choice words.
I love the wreath! You know I'm into felt crafts... I'm thinking this is on my agenda. And, to second Charlotte, my mom uses E6000 to do rhinestones for dance costumes because the glue is so strong you can use it on a stretch fabric (lycra and such) and they won't pop off!
